Homebuyer Education Workshop

Homebuyers Education provides information about the resources and steps involved in purchasing a home. The successful completion of all the collective 8 hours of Homebuyers Education is required to qualify for various home financing (mortgage) products, down payment assistance and other services provided by Prosperity.

Homebuyers Education course requirement hours are broken up into three components. To receive your HBE Certificate, you must complete the following:

  1. ehomeAmerica Online Homebuyer's Education Course
  2. Know Before You Buy Virtual Session
  3. One-on-One Couseling

There will be a fee involved in taking the eHomeAmerica course (paid directly to ehome for the service they are providing) that is separate from the Enrollment Application fee paid to Prosperity .

  2. Free Know Before You Buy Virtual Zoom Session

    This is a virtual, supplemental informational course that further details the homebuying process. It encourages an interactive experience where participants are able to ask questions to further their understanding and preparation for homeownership.

    Participants will learn about topics including but not limited to:
    • Distinguishing between Mortgage Readiness & Homeownership Readiness
    • Building the Homebuying Team
    • Payment Shock versus Reserves
    • Understanding Down Payment
    • Qualifying versus Compliance Income
    • Understanding the one-on-one assessment process
    • Understanding the “Math” behind homebuying process
    • “First-Time” Homebuyer Meanings & How it can impact your eligibility
  3. IMPORTANT: (For in-person only): Workshops will be cancelled without notice, if registration is below five participants. In case of inclement weather or low workshop registration, we will call all registered participants by 6:00 p.m. the day before class to verify whether the workshops will be held.
